Flash 55 - Hillside

Nate stepped onto the front porch, coffee in hand, breathing in the morning smells. He didn’t know which would do the trick this morning, the coffee or the warm country air. Maybe both would be needed  to sweep the nighttime cobwebs aside.

One week until the big event, and Rennie was putting the pressure on.

  1. Hmmm...is he trying to get himself motivated to go for a training run in preparation for an upcoming race? Those were my first thoughts although the possibilities are endless. Will we ever know?

  2. No, it is not a race, but yes, you will get to know this man well, as he is the lead character in my NaNo novel. I'm trying out a few things, trying to get ready for November. The story is outlined back in a post in March or April - "Its a Mystery to me".

  3. Good for you. You're planning ahead for NaNoWriMO. It's weird. Normally, I plan ahead for everything that I possibly can. But when it comes to writing, my brain fights being cornered.

I guess I want writing to be fun and for me giving too much thought to the process takes away from the pleasure. Or fear of failure prevents me from getting too serious...Who knows what my problem is? Ack!

  4. Oh Goody! I'm so excited after reading this exploration of character. My fingers are itching for NaNo to start. I can't believe we have another month and a half. When you get your Nano account set up remember to add me as a buddy and I'll do the same.

  6. Oh, this makes me want to know more!!

I sent you an email yesterday, but something seems to be screwing up on the electronic route from you to me and vice versa. I just got what might have been your 1st or 2nd attempt -- I responded to 3rd try yesterday. I'm gonna try sending you an email from a different email address but you'll be able to tell from the subject line that it's me and not someone trying to sell you little blue pills or real estate....

  7. How exciting, a mystery for Nano! I have to admit, I'm completely unprepared for Nano. I'm not even totally sure I still want to use the one idea I've come up with.
I promise to spend the entire month of October trying to figure it out. That gives me two weeks to finish my current edit of DE. Whew, it really is like a roller coaster,

  8. Natasha - Haven't received email as of yet. Wish I knew what the problem was. Maybe a new email address will help.

Dayner - Hope two weeks will give you enough time to finish editing DE. I'm rethinking my plot as we speak. Hopefully I will have some sense of it b/4 Nov! Taking a romance writing class now, and in developing my character more, I think he may be different than I originally imagined him. Yikes!

  10. Love it!! I am so excited to read more about this character in your story.

I am beginning to feel jealous about NaNo. I am itching to do it again, but to be honest, I got nothin' in terms of a story or character. It was so fun last year!
